My Best Friend's Girl

I did it again.

I fell in love with a fictional character.

He is Luke Wiseman from the book, My Best Friend's Girl by Dorothy Koomson. You can get more info about the book here.

Back to Luke. I can't help it okay. He is an amazing guy. Patient, calm, passionate, intelligent, gorgeous, eventhough he was a bit of an ass in the beginning. Hey, I admit he is a complex man, but he got pass that. He is a manly man, and he knows what he wants and not afraid to show it. That's what I like about him the most.

Enough about that Wiseman, now let's talk about the book. It's been awhile since the last time I've read a book and finished in just a couple of days. I even stopped other things I should be doing and wanted to finish the book. I have trouble to finish a book these days, I think due to time limitations and uninteresting plots. I have stacks of books at home, unopened, half reads, 1/4 reads lol. Oh dear, it's been a while since the last time I blabber here too, lol and I am blabbering.

You can read the synopsis at the link above, so I am not going to summarise it here. What I like most about the book is the relationship between the people involved. The story is about friendship, love, acceptance and forgiveness. How to forgive and forget. To sacrifice for someone. I laughed and weep while reading this book, a few times. LOL. I adored the little Tegan. Anyone would fall in love with her. No wonder Luke was so smitten with her. hehehe. I didnt really like Kamryn, the main character at first. She is not the typical heroin, she is whiny, angst, negative, insecure (how can she be so insecure about herself when 2 gorgeous guys are crazy about her!!)I nearly throw the book near the end because I just can't understand what she was so torn about when it's so clear in front of her! You have to read to find out. hehe. But now as I am writing this, I sort of changed my mind. I felt that is what so lovely about the book, Kamryn seems real and not the usual heroines we read in books where they are all seemed perfect and cute and perky and gorgeous and everything nice. And oh, did I mention that she is black and Tegan is white and her partners are white? ehehe. It doesnt matter to me. I admire her, she is strong, she is a bit negative at times but she have a heart of gold. She is not perfect she is human, and struggling. I cried when she broke down. But she is a strong character. I can imagine this book turned into a film. It would make a great film. I am looking for a face to play Luke. Hmm.. hehehe

Anyway, this is one of the books that I wouldnt mind reading again, when I am feeling a bit down, because it reminds me about the most important things in life. There are times that you should avoid grudges, forgive people, be nice to people yadiyada. You can be angry, you can be hurt but there are more to life than sulking or blaming people etc.

I enjoyed every bit of the book and it sort of give me a fresh perspective to some things. I loved the book. Really and truly ;-P
