Forever

I feel like we have been friends since forever.

They are the oldest friends that I still keep in touch with.

I've know Yeen and Jie since 1990, when I entered high school. Met Chew when I was in Form 4 in 1993, she was the new girl on the block :)

We had so many memories together. I sat with Yeen, Chew sat behind me in class, Jie was in front.

This how we looked like then (dont be angry girls!!!)

My attempt at being creative lol

This was when we met somewhere in October 2007.

This was last Monday :) It took us more than a year to meet up again! Too bad Jie couldnt join because she just gave birth to a lovely baby girl last month.

Yeen has a charming hero! :)

Hope we can meet up more often girls. Love ya!!!

:)

Marmalade

That day when I went to Delicious with the Geeks in the Pink :P in Bangsar Village II, I peeked into this cute cafe called Marmalade. Made a mental note to try this place one day.

I got the chance when me and my old chums from school decided to meet there. My friend Chew suggested the place because she heard her friends raving about the place but never got the chance to try. Yeen been there before, once and she was excited with our choice of meeting there. So, off we went.

The cafe is so cute! White walls, very airy and have really cute wallpaper of a playground and ferris wheel. I love it! hehehe. Well, you know me, I am so easy to please and love anything cutesy. They have cute lamps hanging too but I was not really in the mood to take pics. They even have a little corner by the window, overlooking the street below with cute looking chairs. We chose a place near the wallpaper because we thought it would make an adorable background :).

The adorable wallpaper

Then the menu came, and we took quite awhile to decide what to order. We arrived around 12pm, and they still served breakfast. So Yeen and Chew decided to have the breakfast dishes while I opted for the pasta. Yeen had the Omellete Brekkie - a mushroom omellete served with thick wholemeal bread. Chew had the Corn Stack i think what its called - pancake like "corn stack" with sunny side up, beef bacon with baked beans and tomato and avocado salad at the side. For the breakfast menu, you will have the option for juice (apple or orange) or coffee (latte, cappucino etc) or tea. I think the breakfast set is around RM20. I had a spaghetti olio and i think its around RM20 too.

Mushroom omelette
Cornstack - the corn pancake like thingy was very filling. I really like it. Never had something like it before and the avocado salad was delicious!!
My spaghetti olio - like any other olios but this one was a bit different because it had the pine nuts and sundried tomatoes added to it. It was interesting. Love it but i think the pasta was a bit too tought, I prefer the pasta to be softer. Other than that, it was nice!!!

I just love the ambience of the cafe. It is a place where you can sit there and had long chats (if its not too full) hehee. When we arrived, they were only about a couple of tables that were occupied, but by the time we were about to leave, the cafe was nearly full.

I wouldn't mind going here again. Would love to try the carrot cake I heard people blogged about. Till next time! :)

Do you have any suggestions of interesting halal places to eat? Let me know!

Marmalade Cafe is located at 1st Floor, Bangsar Village II.

We (Heart) the Beach!!

Me and my family, we just love the beach.

Went for a little get away with my family to Port Dickson (PD) last weekend. Port Dickson is just about 1 to 1 1/2 hours (depends on traffic) driving from my house, approximately about 80km? We stayed at the Bayu Beach Resort. Bayu Beach Resort claimed to have the best beach in PD. I think they deserved the name, since the beach was beautiful, fluffy white sandy beach, and not too crowded. We spent the night there, and the sky was bright blue and sun was shining brightly. *sigh*

Let's join our fun! :)

just after sunrise
early morning, hanging out by the beach
white sandy beach.. i like!
my big feet in the water, can you see the seashells? love it!
the banana ride, among the fun things they have at the resort, including jetskis
we had a great time collecting shells, corals and hermit crabs!

our sandcastle! cute eh? ;))
my nephews and nieces enjoying the beach!

even the little ones!

Viva La Vida

Coldplay won the Song of the Year at the Grammys for the song Viva La Vida.

Weeeeehoooo!!!! I am so happy!

Hahaha. I am a big fan of Coldplay and the song. For me Viva La Vida is my 2008 song. So I am glad that my favourite song is recognised as the Song of the Year. hehehehe. LOVE THE ABLUM TOO!!! Lost and Lovers in Japan- Reign of Love are among my faves from the album.

Coldplay also won 2 more Grammys for Best Rock Album and Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals, out of their 7 nominations (including, Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Best Rock Song) in the Grammys. Check out the full listing of the winners here.

On a happy note, a little birdie told me that Coldplay may be coming here. How exciting is that? COLDPLAY HERE?? UNBELIEVABLE!!!! It's just rumours, but I hope its true!

AND!!!!!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO CHRIS BROWN AND RIHANNA??? I did a bit of search, click here and here for more story. Not that I really care about their love life, but the thing is that Rihanna might be cancelling her show here this Friday! Read it here. Grrr.. you can cancel it girl, as long as I get my money back, so I can go to see Coldplay if they come here. Hehehehe.

So anyway, how was your weekend? I had an awesome time spent at the beach with my family, and catching up with my old friends. Will post about it later k!

My boss is on leave today. So I am elated. hahaha.

have a fabulous week, people!

Chris Martin performed "Lost" with Jay Z. Not sure I like the collabo with Jay-Z as i think the song is awesome on its own. But Viva La Vida's performance was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats boys!

**UPDATED 11/2/2009 - Rihanna concert this Friday is postponed to a date to be announced later. For more info, click here.

Dream A Little Dream of Will

Oh dear.

I need help!

LOL.

The last thing I watched before I went to sleep last night was the latest episode of Privileged.

And guess what I dreamt about?

;P

I dreamt of Will. IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!! *sigh* LOL. He was sweet, charming, handsome like how he is in Privileged, but the difference was that, I am Megan. LOL. I am his girlfriend. awwwwww.

The dream was like, hmm.. how to say, several episodes? hahahahahahah I met his family, he met my family, we went out, nothing fancy, but just hanging out like that. But went my alarm went off, we were having a little quarrel, then I tried calling him at his home (the only number I have in the dream), someone at home picked up and called for him but he took a long time to answer it that I hang up. Then, I was so upset because I just realised that I didn't even have his mobile number. Then I woke up and I, ALMOST, picked up my handphone and check the phonebook. lol. Of course there is no "Will" there. ahahhahaah

Errrrrr.. I am screwed!

But I dreamt of him, and it makes my day a bit brighter today.

AHAHAHAH I am such a dork. Oh whatever!!! lol. Loving him!.

This is how he looked like in the latest episode.

He is a little a bit angry last night
Awww jealous bf
Whoa boy
lossen up, drunk Will? Goofy!!!
Still angry, babe? :p
Now... this is the Will I like, smiling :)

I seriously need help. :))

Have a fantastic weekend loves!

Survived!

I survived my first ever aerobic class yesterday.

*phew*

I was so nervous about going to the class (it was organised by my office's sports club fyi), because I was afraid I couldn't catch up. Well look at me, look at other girls. I told my colleague, Linda and she said "oh don't worry Jan, we are just going to have some fun".

So I went, and oh yeah, it was really FUN!! I am glad I joined the class. I know, being the first class, the instructor wasn't really hard on us, the class was just to get us going. But, that doesn't mean I am not hurting ok. lol. My arms, thighs, calves felt a bit tight today. I can't imagine how the next class would be. *worried*

But.....I am feeling good and very excited for the next class!! I am happy I am doing something for myself.

Wish me luck guys!

The pic is not related at all to the post, but I just thought it's too cute not to share. It made me smile. Hope it will make you smile too! Not sure the pic belong to whom though, I just did some random search on google. I love starfish! ;))

Love ya'll!!!

Nights in Rodanthe

Adrienne (Diane Lane) told her daughter...

"But there's another kind of love, Amanda
One that gives you the courage to be better than you are, not less than you are
One that makes you feel that anything is possible
I want you to know what you could have that
I want you to hold out for it
I want you to know that you deserve it
You hear me?"

*sobs*

sigh...

Watched Nights in Rodanthe. Loved it. It's been awhile since the last time I saw a movie like this. I am a hopeless romantic. I love sappy love movies. hhaahhaa. I have always love Nicholas Sparks books (but havent read this one) and his books that made into films have always touched my heart and among my faves (The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Message in the Bottle). This one is no different. Predictable, but *sigh* hahah. Love Diane Lane too. She's beautiful, don't you think?

More info here.

Go watch it, have a cup of tea and curl up. Some tissues would help too ;P

My Mama Said...

... that I should be at home when I am having a cold.

LOL.

Oh well. A girl got to do what a girl got to do right?

I am having a cold. It's no fun! I don't like! Ugh. But this morning (it's a public holiday btw), Ain kidnapped me. lol. Ain wanted to buy a present for her friend at work so I just tagged along.

Both of us actually are not feeling well, but we had a satisfying trip and very quick one.

Anyway, we had a nice lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. It was my second visit and Ain's first time.

Use this sign to call the waiter.. blue - run forrest run, means that you don't need any assistance.. but red - stop forrest (x remember) means that you require assistance. cute eh?

My first time (sometime in July last year) wasn't really good experience. I don't know why, maybe because of the dishes chosen. They didnt really "excite" my tastebuds. They are just, shrimps. lol. I think i had the bucket 1/4 pound shrimps and the Shrimp Heaven or something (it has 4 different types of shrimps). This time around was a better experience and make me want to come here again. But the price is quite heavy on the pocketslah (we paid about RM40 each for our lunch).

This time, we tried the favourites on the menu.. The Cajun Shrimps (under the appertiser) and the Baramundi with shrimps and really yummy mashed potatoes ( i didnt remember the name). The Cajun Shrimp is shrimps in cajun spice served with garlic bread. We dunk the bread in the oily stuff and its was yummy. lol. The shrimps were grilled i think then these wonderful spicy sauce is drizzled on the shrimps. No wonder this is the favourite (I saw it on several other tables). It was nice contrast to our main. The main was pretty awesome too. It has the baramundi, huge scoop of mashed potatoes and of course the shrimps and creamy sauce. I forgot the name but it has baramundi and bourbon in the name. I asked the waiter if they put the real bourbon in the dish before we decided to order it, but was informed that it was just a name and the restaurant is halal, so no need to worry about liquour in our food. :) To wash this down, I had a mango juice thingy which AWESOME and fresh!! It was recommended by the waiter.. perfect to complement the meal. Ain had a blueberry smoothie. It was nice but I think it's too heavy.

Our lunch
My mango juice thingy in front, Ain's blueberry smoothie at the back

We were both happy and satisfied with our choices.

Btw, while you are there, the waiters will come to you and asked if you have seen Forrest Gump. Why? Because the restaurant is based on Forrest Gump. They will asked some questions about Forrest Gump (the answers can be found around the restaurant.. just have to know where to look) and also play some tricks with you - this is to occupy you while waiting for your order. Cute eh (but after awhile it's kinda annoying hahahaha). They have their own source of entertainment. lol. I love the "friendliness" of the restaurant. I am not sure if this is the usual style (made me wonder if they can do this during peak hours) but I think I am glad I got to exprience it today. Oh, you can even buy some stuff at the souvenir shop, with cute t-shirts with quotes from the movie and tumblers, fridge magnets etc. And oh yeah, almost forgot! I love the quotes they put on the table too. Nice touch!

The puzzle that was given to us.. to find 4 triangles from it by moving only 1 toothpick! We didnt get it though.. the answer is funny though! CHEATER! lol
Ain trying very hard to solve the puzzle (they said they will give us a gift if we got it right)
the decor - see the plaque saying forrest run for 3 years etc? One of the question that was asked to us.
the quotes from the movie

me, amused with the quotes
the interior
bottles of sauces in a bucket

One thing about this place is that, it didn't really have many choices other than shrimp. For those of you who can't eat shrimp or doesn't like shrimp, I guess this is not the place for you. The desserts looks yummy, one of it called Chocolate Chip Cookie thingy, from the pic the choc chip cookie is huge!!Didnt order it cuz it was too much for the both of us and we were very full anyway. Hope to try it next time.

me, haha laughing at the sudden "in house entertainment" by a fellow diner, singing a Boy George's oldie - Karma Chameleon
ain enjoying the meal

So anyway, had a nice experience here at Bubba Gump and like Forrest Gump used to say, "My mama said, life is like a box of chocolates, you'll never know what you gonna get". So, try at least. :-)

I had a nice start of the week, hope you and I will have a great week ahead!

*hugs*
